Contact Book ships an MCP server you can wire into Claude Desktop or any MCP client in five lines. The same auth + access gates apply, the same audit log records every action, the same rate limits apply. Clay doesn't currently expose this surface - that's the gap.

At a glance

Clay is the design-forward, AI-rich personal CRM with deep social integrations - LinkedIn, Twitter, calendar all woven into the contact card. Contact Book is deliberately quieter: no social ingest, no auto-enrichment, no inbox reading. We host in Germany. Pick Clay if the AI ingest is the value; pick us if you want a tool that does not read your channels.

Agent surface

What 'agent-friendly' actually means in practice

Contact Book ships an MCP server, a CLI, and drop-in clients in 15 languages. They're auto-generated from the same schema your UI uses; the auth, the access gates, the rate limits, the audit log all apply identically whether you're clicking buttons or calling the API. Clay doesn't currently expose this surface, which is the gap a serious agent integration trips over - the agent ends up scraping the UI through a browser, which is fragile, slow, and silently bypasses everything below.

When to pick which

Pick Contact Book when

You don't want the tool reading your channels - even when the auto-enrichment would be useful.
Hosting in Germany matters; Clay is US-headquartered.

Pick Clay when

You'd genuinely use the LinkedIn / Twitter / inbox auto-enrichment.
Aesthetic + AI ingest are the value for you.
